Lily vs the Hiccups!

Lily makes such cute faces while she’s sleeping don’t you think?

Lily (7 weeks 4 days old) gets a lot of hiccups, it’s really annoying for her, but the sounds she makes are so cute, here it is!

Lily 1st Olympics & Eating Her Hand!

Lily (7 weeks old) is starting to eat her hand now! Does she like it, or doesn’t she? We don’t quite know…either way I think it’s so cute and funny at the same time! You can check out the video below!  She’s also all dressed up in her USA romper outfit again to get ready to watch her first Olympics! She is also wearing a gold medal, 1st place for “Cutest Baby”!!!  Lily is ready to cheer on her favorite teams, go team USA, Canada, and Việt Nam!!!

Lily’s Webcams Canada!

Lily webcams for the first time to Calgary, Canada to chat with her favorite auntie Jennifer and uncle Andy!!  She was so good and sat there and chilled while staring at the screen!  She drooled a couple times on the keyboard, and burped a couple times as well.  I told her that’s not ladylike and it’s rude to drool during a webcam, but she was offended and started to cry.  Overall, it was a good session and I’m glad they got to see her in action!  I think she’ll learn to be a pro at this!  Talk to you guys soon auntie Jennifer and uncle Andy!!!

Power to Lily!

Lily (6 weeks 3 days old) likes to raise up her arm sometimes when she sleeps (Khoa calls it her “power to the people” pose, I see it as her raising her hand for a question), it’s quite funny and cute in our opinion, so here it is! Sorry for the swinging action, she was sleeping on the swing when this happened!

Jackie’s 1st Birthday as a Mommy!

On Wednesday, July 18, 2012, I celebrated a very special birthday, a super duper extra special birthday because it is my first birthday as a mommy!  I started my morning with tons of birthday wishes from my friends and family, and most of all my sweet baby Lily giving me a gift of her smile!  Khoa surprised me with a sweet (yet chaotic but lovely) homemade card, and both Luna and Lily signed it as well, tehehehe.  I them took a bunch of pictures of Lily in her pretty dress that I got her from JcPenny!  She’s so photogenic and I just can’t get enough of her adorable smile and big beautiful eyes!  After my paparazi-ing, we got everything loaded into the car for our fun filled day!  I was already in the car, Lily in the car seat ready to go, until Khoa told me he wanted me to come back inside for a bit.  He said something was suppose to arrive in 15 minutes, but as we waited, nothing showed up.  Turns out, he ordered flowers and birthday balloons, and they said they would deliver it within a certain time but they were late and had the wrong flowers and balloons so Khoa refused the order.  So that was a bust, but it’s ok, I was excited to eat at Goofy’s Kitchen at Downtown Disney!

We arrived at the restaurant at 1:36pm, and the front was all dim and no one was there…uh oh…turns out brunch ended at 1:30pm =(.  So we decided to eat at Storytellers Cafe instead.  Khoa told them it’s my birthday so they gave me a Happy Birthday Disney button with my name on it!  So everywhere I went, everyone wished me a Happy Birthday!  I ordered crab cakes, a margarita flatbread, and a very berry smoothie!  Khoa got the corn chowder, four cheese ravioli with asparagus with whole cloves of garlic, and a red trolley.  Everything was delicious, but the crab cakes really filled me up so I boxed up half my flatbread and poured my smoothie into a Disney to-go cup!  We then took Lily on a stroll around Downtown Disney so she can enjoy the music, scenery, ambiance, and window shopping, but unfortunately, she remained sleeping the entire time.  Regardless, I had to take pictures with her to document her first time at Downtown Disney!  She’s so close to Disneyland, yet so far…soon enough she’ll share my love for Disney and we’ll go crazy in the park haha!

After our stroll, we dropped her off at her Ong Ba Noi’s (grandparents) house where Khoa set up a convenient Pack ‘N Play for her to sleep and play on.  That thing really is awesome and cleverly designed!  We then went to go see Pixar’s Brave!  We had a little bit of time to spare before the movie, so we went to a Target nearby and I bought a cute dress that I couldn’t resist from buying and a bow headband set for our Lily pad!  We then went to enjoy the movie, and since the movie’s been out for almost a month, we practically had the theater to ourselves, it was like our own private theater experience!  The movie was really great and the visuals were so beautifully done!  The short at the beginning of the movie, La Luna, was amazing (and not just because of the name), my favorite so far!!  After the movie, I wanted to pick Lily up and take her to dinner with us, but we called Khoa’s mom and she said Lily was sound asleep, and told us to enjoy dinner just the two of us.  So due to the convenience of it, we had dinner as a couple, at the Napa Rose Restaurant (thanks Kat for the recommendation) also at Downtown Disney!  It’s a very fancy restaurant but the people were super nice to us and really made us feel special!  Khoa really liked our waiter, he had a memorable name,  Saucy (that really is his name!) and we found out he was expecting his first child soon!  Of course, we couldn’t resist sharing photos of our precious Lily to him and the couple next to us, who happen to be celebrating their 19th wedding anniversary!  Khoa was very chatty, that’s how we know all this stuff haha.  At dinner, we got this SUPER delicious side order of Truffle Mac N Cheese, I ordered the Angus New York Steak, and Khoa got the Filet Mignon.  For dessert I ordered the Blue Beach Crème Brûlée (crème brûlée that’s colored blue on top to resemble the ocean, with graham cracker crumbs for the sand, an umbrella and gummy candy for the sandals in the sand.  I realized later that I order dessert from the kid’s menu, because later I found out there’s a real dessert menu with more choice, but I didn’t care, I wanted my beach crème brûlée haha!  They brought it out with a candle and the words Happy Birthday written on chocolate on the plate! On the way out, we saw some neat vino Pixar bottles too!  Too bad I don’t drink wine otherwise I definitely would have bought one as a souvenir!

On Saturday, July 21st, Khoa threw me a very wonderful birthday party!  So of course, first thing I did was put Lily in her new party dress that she got from her party last week!  Doesn’t she look super cute?  She’s wearing the white bow headband that I bought her on my birthday too!  Khoa ordered catering from Famous Dave’s BBQ and we got tons of ribs, brisket, sausage links, muffins, buns, mac ‘n cheese (my favorite from there!), mashed potatoes, and corn on a cob!  They delivered to us and it was so great, they brought us serving utensils, wet naps, utensils, and ever packets of their famous BBQ sauce (Rich & Sassy and Devil’s Spit).  We will definitely order from them again in the future!  Later, Alvina surprised me with an AMAZING dessert spread from Extraordinary Desserts in Hillcrest in San Diego!  It was so nice of her she got me a macadamia caramel cheesecake, chocolate bundt cake, raspberry strudel, napoleon, and coffee cake!  Thank you so much alvina, I was so overwhelmed and amazed by it all!

Khoa then had me open presents but in the style of secret santa.  Khoa had everyone prepare their most fondest memory of me, and they took turns reading off someone else’s fondest memory and I was suppose to guess who’s it was.  Then that person would hand me a present, I would open it, and then go on with the next one.  The last one ended with Khoa’s fondest memory, and he of course wrote about our wedding day, and then he presented me a group gift that everyone chipped in for, which is a QVC gift card!  I’m going to have some online shopping fun for sure!!  The whole thing was really sweet and it really made me feel super special!  Even though the party was for me, I was just so excited to show off my little Lily pad!  Everyone just loved how calm she is and every time someone gives me a compliment about her, I just feel so proud!  Luna was also reunited with her play buddy Bobo too!  Steve brought him over to play with Luna, yay!  I love all my friends and family and thank you all for making my first birthday as a mommy a super special one!  Later that day we dropped Lily off with her grandparents again so Khoa and I can watch Ted.  It’s quite a funny movie and I enjoyed my time with Khoa!  I was so excited to come back to Lily though and when we arrived at the house, she really did light up her eyes and looked very excited to see us!  That’s so cute!

The next day Khoa took me and Lily to get brunch at Goofy’s Kitchen!  It was really fun to see the Disney Characters and Lily was actually awake during the entire time!  She was really happy and smiling and she was even moving to the music and all the characters loved her!  Goofy’s Kitchen is a buffet too so it was great to eat all the yummy food my tummy can hold!  The food was really delicious and there was such a wide variety to choose from.  They took our family picture with Goofy before you go inside, and as a souvenir, you can buy the large print along with 4 4×6 photos, and you get 3 famous recipes all in a cute keepsake folder.  They sure know how to make money, but hey, we’re celebrating so we bought it for memories!

I had such a wonderful birthday and I love and appreciate everyone who was a part of it in making me feel super special!  Even my cousin in laws (Chi Hai, Chi Ba, Chi Tu, Anh Hai Mike, and even Bac Ba) and Khoa all changed their profile pictures on facebook to a picture of me and them wishing me a Happy Birthday!  That was so sweet and thoughtful and I felt so honored to be in their profile picture for the day!  Most of all, I want to thank my love, my husband, Khoa for planning everything and making sure I’m always happy and spoiled, and for giving me the best present ever, Lily!

What’s Bothering Lily?

What’s bothering Lily (6 weeks 2 days old)? We don’t know, we don’t think she knows either haha! Sorry for all the movement, the rocking back and forth, just trying to soothe the baby! hehe.

Lily Cooing and Dancing!

Lily is growing way too fast and so I try to capture as much as I can on camera, not just pictures, to document and remember her when she’s this small!  Here’s a cute video from yesterday (July 21st) of her starting to coo and make noise before my birthday party that my sweet husband, Khoa, threw for me!  I think she’s wishing her mommy a Happy Birthday and telling me how much she loves me, hehe! =D (Sorry for the camera zooming in and out, I was sitting on a rocking ottoman haha!)

This next video is her during our brunch at Goofy’s Kitchen in Downtown Disney earlier today.  She’s dancing to the music and I’m so happy that I captured one of her biggest smiles ever on camera!!  Enjoy!  This video is sorta loud because the music at the restaurant was pretty loud, so lower your volume a little bit!

Lily Visits Her Mommy’s Work!

Lily had the pleasure of visiting her mommy’s workplace yesterday at Breakthrough Performance Tech!  Everyone was so excited to meet her and hold her, especially Yasaman, our QA Manager.  My work got me a yummy Green Tea Fruit Cake and they all sang Happy Birthday to me and got me a card as well!  It was really nice to see everyone and catch up with everyone and all their lives.  We are such a small company, so we’re like a family!  It was great to everyone excited to see Lily and she was such a good baby and slept most of the time.  Now and then she would tease them by slightly opening her eyes haha!  Next time she visits again, hopefully she’ll flash them her precious smile and glimmering eyes!  It was a great time and I know Lily had a great time!

Sleeping Lily!

Lily (5 weeks 4 days old) loves to sleep like any other newborn.  Considering how she sleeps so often, I tend to watch her sleep a lot (no it’s not creepy, it’s endearing!) and man does she look so cute a cozy!  During her sleep, she likes to stretch, makes cute little noises, toots, and have very vivid dreams during her sleep, and I’m so glad I got to capture some of the funny quirky things she does!  Enjoy!

Lily’s Baptism & 1 Month Celebration!

Our sweet baby Lily got Baptized yesterday at St. Norbert Catholic Church at 2pm and we also celebrated her Ngày Đầy Tháng!  Lily got to have her own private baptism ceremony due to my request (ask and you shall receive!) and I’m so glad it was private because it was very intimate and it really made it that much more special since our Lily.   There are 5 symbols of baptism: the cross, a white garment, oild of chrism, water, and candle.  The cross represents Christ’s crucifixion, his resurrection and salvation of us all. This reflects the ‘turning to God’ in the three promises. The white garment was given to us by the church, and it is the symbol of purity as well as a manifestation of the “new man”. White symbolizes that the stain of Original Sin is no longer upon the child whose soul is wiped clean by the sacrament of baptism. Lily is now a child of God and that heaven is opened to her.  The Oil Of Chrism was put on lily’s chest and later the top of her head, and that symbolizes the seal of the Holy Spirit.  The water reminds us that it is God who gives us life and it symbolizes cleansing and purity and water washes away our sins.  Lastly, the candle is the final symbol in baptism which Khoa got to light, and it is, like water, essential for life. Without light there could be no life on this planet and it particularly symbolizes Faith.  Lily’s saint name is Anna, inherited from her Godmother Jennifer’s saint name.) was the center of attention!  We are so happy God will protect our baby in her journey through life, and will are more happy that she has two godmothers (Jennifer and Leilani) who will love, support, and take care of her through her life as well.  Thank you Godmother Jennifer for lily’s necklace and cross, and to Godmother Leilani for Lily’s necklace and pendant as well!  The necklaces were blessed by Father Kiet Ta as well!  Lily was so wonderful during her baptism, she was asleep the ENTIRE time!  Even when Father Kiet poured water over her forehead, she still remained fast asleep.  She didn’t wake up until we got home and it was time for her lunch!!  Haha!  That’s my sweet angel!  Special thanks to my uncle for video taping Lily’s baptism, she can look back and she what an aswesome mellow baby she was during this event!  Haha!  Also, thanks Kristin for taking picture for me with my camera!!  Thank you so much to all those who made it to her special baptism!

As a Vietnamese tradition, we usually celebrate the baby’s 1 month old milestone, called a Ngày Đầy Tháng.  We only celebrate the baby’s first month and 1 year birthday, but luckily for Lily, we will adopt the Western tradition and celebrate every year of her life as well. =).  During the week before her party, I worked very hard on making a banner and decorations for her party.  I also made cake decorations for her cake, (thanks An & Linda for the ordered caked from Givral Bakery!) and I made French Vanilla cupcakes with swiss meringue buttercream, and made decorations for those as well.  I wanted to make cupcake decorations that were cute but also baby related.  So I made love birds to represent the love of her parents that create our precious angel Lily, I made a bassinet to and pacifier for the cute baby items, and the hearts that says Love and baby Lily to show her that our hearts are filled with her love and our love for her, and the pink flowers represents the pretty girl she’s already growing to be!

A couple months ago near the end of my pregnancy, Khoa bought me this cool book that has a bunch of recipes and imaged of cake Push Pops, and I’ve been waiting for an occasion (where I have time and energy) to make these!  Although right now I don’t have as much free time and energy as I use to, I still decided to try to make these.  Luckily, I was successful and made Strawberry Shortcake cake push pops!  I was going to tie a pink ribbon and add a pink rhinestone in the middle of the bow for decoration around the push pops, but I decided this was enough work!  I’ll go all out for her 1 year old birthday!

We ordered Vietnamese food from the same place as we did before for our Baby Shower.  We ordered Nem Nuong, Banh Beo, and Mi Xao, (no egg rolls this time since we decided to have a much smaller party), and my aunt made Fried Rice and my family brought cut up fruit (watermelon, honeydew, mango, pineapples, and LOTS of green grapes).  I also made personalized water bottle labels for Lily’s party as well!  Lily was showered with gifts, attention, hugs, kisses, and lots and lots of love!  Every time I finally get a chance to hold my baby, someone instantly takes her away from me so they can get their Lily fix!  It’s nice to know how much she’s loved!!

I’m so happy to have such a cute, healthy, and strong baby, I cannot be more happy and in love with our Lily.  I hope she looks back and enjoys these sweet treats, decorations, and love I put into making her day extra special!  Mommy and daddy loves you SOOOOO much Lily!!  You can enjoy all the pictures from her special day HERE!

Lily doing Boxing!

Lily is 5 weeks old today!  She almost slept for 5 hours the other night, she’s doing so great! Now and then she’ll making some cooing noises too!  I will try to capture them sometime soon!  For now, check out the many faces of Lily at 5 weeks old and our athletic baby girl and her swift killer boxing moves!

Lily’s 1 Month Check-Up!

Lily had a full day of wellness today! I decided to take her to my chiropractor so I can get a much needed adjustment, and so he can give her some alignment as well!! She was getting hungry at this point so she was a little fussy but overall she was very good!  Thanks so much Dr. Matt Demoss for looking after the well being of our Lily pad and for her first chiropractic experience!

After the Chiropractor meeting, we went to Lily’s 1 month check up! She now stretches 21 inches long, in the 50th percentile for height! She now weighs 8.45lbs, not as big as Khoa thought she’s be, but she’s getting bigger regardless! Yay for such great growth and progress! I didn’t add her to my insurance plan yet (I know…I forgot, it totally slipped my mind the past couple days) since I have to wait 30 days after her birth before I can add her. So she did not get her shots today, but the hep b shot will be given to her at next month’s appointment along with all the long list of shots she will be getting then! Overall, she’s a healthy baby, yay!!! Here are some pictures of our cutie pie at the Dr’s appointment and the last one is of her and her Ba Noi (Grandma), what a sweet photo! Enjoy!
